When you think about healthy eating, salads and green vegetables usually come to mind. But how about adding a little more variety to your plan?<\/h5>\n
Roots like carrots, sweet potatoes, and turnips, are a rich source of nutritious complex carbohydrates. Instead of upsetting blood sugar levels like refined sweet foods do, they help regulate them. Therefore, adding more of these sweet root vegetables into your diet helps you curb your cravings for sweets. It can’t get any sweeter than that!<\/h5>\n

Why Eat More Root Veggies?<\/span><\/h4>\n
Long roots \u2013 carrots, parsnips, burdock, and daikon radish \u2013 are excellent blood purifiers and can help improve circulation in the body.<\/h5>\n
Round roots \u2013 turnips, radishes, beets, and rutabagas \u2013 nourish the stomach, spleen, pancreas, and reproductive organs.<\/h5>\n
Also, in Ayurvedic medicine, which I’m a big fan of, it’s believed that eating root vegetables helps with making you feel grounded. So, when you feel unsettled and too dreamy (not that there’s anything wrong with dreaming), try adding\u00a0some more root vegetables into your diet. It’s amazing how your interior balance, that harmony between yin and yang, could actually be achieved through food and self care.<\/h5>\n
